12th EUREN Meeting
Alternative Futures: Russia-EU relations in 2030. Scenario Process Part I
Alternative scenarios for future EU-Russia relations were explored at a meeting of the EU-Russia Expert Network on foreign policy (EUREN) on 27–28 February 2020 in Moscow. The two-day event was hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council.

Markus Ederer, the European Union Ambassador to the Russian Federation, opened the meeting and participated in the plenary "Alternative Futures of EU-Russia relations - methodology and perspectives".

This was a first of three meetings on EUREN's Scenario Analysis. Scenario-building allows a differentiated, future-oriented reflection on topics in question, and a structured, results-oriented discussion. The future is unpredictable, but the scenario analysis helps assess trends and uncertainties and, thus, develop strategic decision-making options in a changing world. The scenario discussions focus on three areas: the EU, Russia, and the European security in 2030; the EU, Russia, and their neighbourhood in 2030; EU-Russia economic relations in 2030.
